Xenosaga Episode 1 Player Characters

There are five player characters available in Xenosaga Episode 1.  There names are:  Shion Uzuki, KOS-MOS, Ziggurat 8 (Ziggy), MOMO, Chaos, and Little Master (Jr.).  I thought I would provide a quick rundown of these characters for those of you who are new to Xenosaga Episode 1, or those who want a little refresher.

Shion Uzuki
Chief Engineer of the KOS-MOS Project General Operation System Research Center Vector Industries First R&D Division.  When the story begins Uzuki is assigned on a twofold mission: to assist in the investigation of a planetary disappearance which is somehow related to the"Zohar Project" - a plan developed jointly between the government and private industry - and to test KOS-MOS.

KOS-MOS
A female, armored battle android developed by the interstellar conglomerate, Vector Industries.  She is comprised entirely of mechanical parts, a rarity in as age of advanced Realian technology.  "KOS-MOS" is not her personal name, but rather the name of the complete battle system designed to combat Gnosis.

Ziggy
A combat cyborg assigned the task of recovering and protecting MOMO, the prototype 100-Series observational Realian.  Instead of embracing the fact that he was once human, Ziggy is constantly tuning his body, eliminating organic parts in order to erase his own existence and reduce himself from a "person" to a mere "object".

MOMO
A prototype 100-Series Observational Realian (synthetic human) developed to observe and contact Gnosis. an alien life form that can only be detected by a "special sense".  MOMO is short for Multiple Observative Mimetic Organicus.  She was created by Joachim Mizrhi, a scientist renowned throughout the galaxy, and his wife, Juli Mizrahi.

Chaos
A slender, young boy who appears 16 years old by whose true age is unknown.  His perpetually melancholic expression, as well as the depth and scope of his conversations. give the impression that he hails from a higher plane of existence.  His translucent blue eyes and silver hair and his particularly distinguishing features.  As he volunteers no information whatsoever about the past other than his name, everything about him. including whether he even has any memory of his past, is unknown.

Jr.
One of the directors of the Kukai Foundation, a special organization based on Second Miltia (an autonomous state in the Galaxey Ferration)  Despite his seemingly carefree attitude, Jr. is actually quite wise and will occasionalyyy make statements, cutting right to the heart of things.

There you have it.  I will be writing up some profiles for the Gnosis and other enemies soon.

Gamestop and Xenosaga Don't Mix

This post is a warning/story of my trouble with a copy of Xenosaga: Episode 1 I bought from Gamestop.  I was looking though the massive PS2 bins at Gamestop looking for a solid RPG; then I saw Xenosaga.  I was thinking in my head "with a name like Der Wille Zur Macht it has to be good.", so I gave the cashier a fiver, made my way home, and popped it in my PS2.  The game was great!  I played for seven hours straight loving every second of it.  Okay, now your thinking, "where does the not mix part come in."  To answer you question right now.  I walked into the elevator on the Elsa clicked "yes" to start her up... and it froze.  I sat there in silent fury because I hadn't saved in a while and Xenosaga has no auto save system.  It was just an unlucky one time thing right, NO!  I restarted the PS2 at least five times, and every time I got to the elevator it froze.  After my anger had subsided and I realized I only spent five dollars on the game I went to eBay and typed in Xenosaga: Episode 1 Der Wille Zur Macht .  I found a copy for only .99 cents and bought it.  Everything was going well with this copy of the game.  I made it all the way to the last boss and killed him without having anymore trouble.  After I beat the boss however, it went into a cut scene where it froze again.  I lost and hour and a half of game play and I had to beat the boss again.  Naturally I took the game out of the PS2 to inspect it, and what do you know it's my original copy of the game.  Some how the eBay copy got switched with the Gamestop copy.  It all works out in the end, but everything would have been good if I never bought that copy from Gamestop.  I guess the moral of the story is check every disc from Gamestop, or any use video game shop, before you pay for it.
